Par rapport à la version finale, la CAS+ disposait d'une mémoire plus réduite, et d'une disposition du clavier légèrement différente. Le premier prototype largement distribué (donc pas la TI-Nspire+, peu répandue) de la TI-Nspire, appelée TI-Nspire CAS+, a été fabriqué à plus de 1000 exemplaires et distribué dans plusieurs pays (particulièrement l'Australie) pour évaluation en 2006.
